The latest LittleBigPlanet 2 trailer from Media Molecule shows off some of the games tools and storytelling features.

On November 16 2010, be prepared to create whole games in addition to your usual platform levels. And remember,  those approx. 3 million levels from the first game will still be playable on LBP2!

I have published my second LittleBigPlanet level and this time it was made with players in mind.

My first level was just a stress-test of the LBP creation-engine and wasn’t meant for playing, but I managed to incorporate some gameplay elements. Now that I know what LBP is capable of, I decided to (as I always try to do) create something original. What I did is something I have never seen before in all of the levels I’ve played online.

Design Theme: “Will different things happen everytime you play?” What I tried to accomplish by that statement is to create a world that changes based on random events and also by what the player does. In other words, if you do something…it triggers something later on. Sometimes you may not be able to see what you’ve triggered and most of the times, you don’t know what you’ve triggered because everything blends seemlessly into the environment.

Visuals/Story: There isn’t really a story. The visuals are pretty dark, gruesome, bloody, hellish and they were designed spitefully so to invoke the ‘madness’. What the level illustrates is an art. It’s about a journey of a Perfectionist’s mind during the initial, middle and final stages of his terrible failure at something. This is how my mind looks like when something goes wrong. It can quickly heal, or it can get worse depending on how deep I go in thought. Personally, it’s a painful experience that I tend to go through often because of my aim for perfection at everything. Caution for little children as the content is deeply horrific…for them.

Gameplay: I have made a spoiler-full guide to answer everything necessary for ‘completing’ the level. Please don’t read it unless you play the level a few times first. There is a lot of programming done in this level to keep track of everything. There is a sensible ranking structure that reads all major events that happen. The level has no real difficulty…though some parts are tricky if you’re not accustomed to the LBP-physics. But, I’ve simplified everything for anybody to pick up and play. Another cool gameplay feature is the goal of obtaining the highest score possible. The entire design of the level is based on this idea. So, while the things you do affect other things, these things are merged into the bubble-scoring structure and so you cause your own score.

So, you have a reason to boot up LBP and help me get my last trophy. Heart me if you like my design, heart the level if you like it…and please rate reasonably. Remember that a higher rating means that more people get to access my level easily.

I pretty much ‘demand’ comments/questions/thoughts from you if you played the level. I recommend playing several times to appreciate and understand the design fully. Simply aim for the best rank, a high-score or just for the artistic experience.

Thank you and I appreciate feedback or anything on this thread: LBP Level – Odyssey of Dementia

[Note: If you have trouble finding the level, just enter: Seiryuki2002 in the search. If it doesn't appear, press square on the level that says "The Experiment by Sudesh" and select More from this Author option. It should show up there.]

Hey we passed!

What were you expecting Sony to announce and are you dissapointed by what was?

As expected, Sony has partially unveiled the new Subscription based service for the PS3. This service will be “on top” of the current FREE PlayStation Network.
This is to clarify that everything you enjoy currently on the PSN will remain free.
For $49.99 USD per year, or $17.99 USD for 3 months, gamers will gain access to a one year Qore Subscription, exclusive beta access to select upcoming games, early access to demos and trials of major games such as inFAMOUS, free minis and occasional free PSN titles such as Wipeout HD which comes free with the first month’s subscription.
The service will offer gamers hundreds of dollars worth of content at a small price. This content will remain under your ownership for as long as your subscription is maintained.
Sony also announced that the first 3 months of the service will be free. It is unclear if the Service wil be free to all for the first 3 months, or that subscribers will gain an additional (first 3) months free, on top of their $49.99 payment.
PlayStation Plus is expected to go live later this month, and more details on the service and it features will be announced soon.
Cross game voice chat maybe? We’ll see.

Series creator David Jaffe of God of War fame took the stage at the Sony Press Conference and unveiled the new Twisted Metal game coming to PS3.
A live demo of the game was played for the audience. The game will feature flying vehicles for the first time and will be out sometime in 2011.

There’s been a rocky relationship with Valve and Sony since the release of PlayStation 3. Valve was early to complain that the PS3 was too hard to develop games for and continuously neglected the PS3 platform for their games, offering shuddy ports of games from The Orange Box.
Today at the Sony E3 Press Conference, Valve’s Gabe Newell announced that Portal 2 will be coming to PS3 and will be steamworks enabled offering features not available on other consoles.
Newell said the new features will make Portal 2 “the best version on any console.”

EA took the stage at Sony’s E3 Press Conference and announced 2 Limited Edition versions of their upcoming blockbusters, exclusive to the PS3.

Medal of Honor will include a remastered version of the PS2 hit Medal of Honor: Frontline.
Dead Space 2 will come with the HD remastered Dead Space: Extraction (originally a Wii Exclusive) and will feature PlayStation Move support.

Medal of Honor is set to hit store shelves on October 12.

If you’ve been a regular reader of the PlayStation.Blog, you’d have noticed the many Canadians requesting that Sony launch the 2-yr old service in the Great White North.
A subtle announcement by Jack Tretton launches this service next month!

Mark your calendars, JUNE 15th 2010 is the big day!
Following up on a year of success for the PlayStation Brand, with products such as the  PS3 Slim and PSP Go shipping out from Sony. With major exclusives such as Demon’s Souls, Heavy Rain, ModNation Racers and God of War 3 in gamer’s hands this past year. The recently announced KILLZONE 3,the upcoming GRAN TURISMO 5, SOCOM 4 and a slew of unannounced titles to be unveiled on June 15th.
Sony is preparing to wow us all as they did last year @ E3, with MAG and God of War 3 gameplay and the unveiling of PLAYSTATION MOVE .
2010 is the year of motion control and 3D gaming and Sony will be sure to make these 2 an integral part of their upcoming conference.

Expectations for the big show? Here’s our list:
